Schneider speaks to the media
By Liz Mathews
Seahawks general manager John Schneider addressed the media today regarding the roster moves made over the weekend.
"It's always the toughest time of the year when you are releasing players and going from 75 to 53," he said.
"There are three major ways you can improve your team and that's through the draft, through free agency/trade period, and at the 53-man cut."
The 53-man cut is the hardest for the team, explained Schneider, since there are so many players who have "busted their tails - blood, sweat and tears," throughout the offseason and training camp.
Schneider was clear that the organization also viewed this as one of the more exciting times, treating it like the draft, fully equipped with a board and comprehensive scouting.
But having to sit down with grown men who have the talent to play in the national football league and let them go, is one of the most difficult tasks for Schneider.
"I wanna wish all those men the best in their future endeavors and thank them for all their hard work."
Said Schneider, but having a coach and coaching staff who are willing to move forward and be willing to teach and put in the extra time, this can be an extremely exciting time to add players.
"I think we are a more talented football team."
