Seahawks confirm roster moves
By Liz Mathews
As expected, the Seahawks have begun to confirm some of the roster moves made this morning.
The team has officially announced the trade of an undisclosed 2011 draft choice to the Philadelphia Eagles for offensive lineman Stacy Andrews.
Andrews was originally drafted in 2004 in the fourth round by the Cincinnati Bengals. He had played five seasons with the team before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles prior to the 2009 season. Over his career, Andrews has started 34 of 72 games played.
Regarding waiver claims, the Seahawks have been awarded guard Evan Dietrich-Smith, formerly of Green Bay, and cornerback Nate Ness, who had spent last season on the Miami Dolphins' practice squad.
Last year, Dietrich-Smith had signed with the Packers as a non-drafted free agent and was the only non-drafted rookie to make the opening-day roster.
To make room on the roster, the team has confirmed the releases safety Kevin Ellison, center Steve Vallos and tackle Mansfield Wrotto.
Additional roster moves are anticipated to be confirmed shortly.
