Kent police negotiated a dramatic hostage situation on Friday afternoon.
Kent Police Chief Steve Stran says the man had a knife to an adult female's neck.
"He had doused [himself and the woman] in kerosene and threatened to light both of them on fire if the officers approached or tried to take him into custody," said Stran.
After 15 minutes of negotiations, the man relented and was taken into custody.
According to Stran, the man has a history of schizophrenia.
