Today On TBTL: Mo Rocca!
Tune in today to hear TBTL Friendo, and fellow Wait Wait panelist, Mo Rocca discuss Romanian Sausage Fests, Italian Elder-Love, and senior citizens who are trying to use reality TV to escape their assisted living homes. Mo's got a new TV show on Cooking Channel called "My Grandmother's Ravioli" in which he learns how to cook from actual grandparents. Also, another gentle reminder that today is Day Two of the TBTL-A-Thon. Thank you so much to to all of you who've already signed up. Yesterday being a holiday, we got off to kind of a slow start, so we're really hoping to make us some ground today. It only takes a few seconds, and will assure we can keep doing this little imaginary radio dance for you for years to come. Thanks, we really really appreciate it. -- Luke Burbank 3 Comments | Share this | Permalink

For everyone who ever played in a rec league Shanna (of the Minnesota Tens) alerted me to this Budweiser commercial that only aired in Canada during the Superbowl...and it made me cry like a baby: Doing what you love generally has to be its own reward. So few of us reap huge fame and money from our passions. How awesome for these guys to get that moment! To everyone heading out this weekend to do what you love simply for the thrill of it, this Bud's for you... - Jen 8 Comments | Share this | Permalink

The penultimate episode of Downton Abbey Hopefully by now you've all had a chance to watch last Sunday's shocking 2-hour episode. But if you haven't...SPOILER ALERT
My whole Downton world turned upside down this week. Lord Grantham! How could you? And while your wife was teetering on the precipice of death! I really liked Mrs. Hughes as Ethel's protector and was so happy that she didn't allow the Davis' to take the baby away (although it's hard to think of her as destitute when she has the fattest baby I've ever seen...how does she carry that thing?) The Spanish Flu was swift and awful, but Lavinia seemed just fine...maybe she did a die of a broken heart. And, as one of you tweeted, that apparently turned Matthew into a zombie.
It seems that the war and the time spent caring for the wounded grew our girls up. Lady Edith (who seems to have been forgiven for exposing Mary's secret to anyone she could get to listen...which has specifically led to the disgusting fiancee Mary is now stuck with) was acknowledged by the Dowager Countess (I think for the first time in her life) and Lady Sybill stood her ground and became a commoner just like you and me! Mary is now even more bitter and sarcastic, but somehow it works for her and makes her more interesting and likeable when last year it made her annoying and off-putting. I continue to be flummoxed by Daisy. I think we're supposed to admire her honesty and discomfort as a war widow of a man she didn't love, but she just comes across as whiny and stupid. And finally Mr. Bates and Anna...I still love 'em, still want 'em together, thought he was hot in handcuffs...but the bedroom scene grossed me out. I am still trying to get his naked upper torso out of my mind. It's the fully dressed repression that turns us on to this couple, not their untouched by sun expanse of skin. I cannot wait to hear what you all thought! Hopes for the finale on Sunday? - Jen 27 Comments | Share this | Permalink

Web Gem: Sloth info you need to have Last week we looked into the Kristin Bell sloth story that was all the rage on the internet. Sure, we had our fun with it...but then Bruce (of the Lake Stevens Tens) alerted me to a video from Animal Planet that intersects the topic of sloths with another topics near and dear to our hearts...
Pottytimes. Watch and learn: A sloth only goes once a week, so it's something to be savored. (Which probably explains the "poo dance" part) - Jen 10 Comments | Share this | Permalink

Tuesday On TBTL: Telekinesis! Join us live from Burbank Studios today as we chat with Michael Lerner, the guy behind Telekinesis, one of our favorite bands. Michael's also been moonlighting as the drummer for the Portlandia stage show, so we'll ask him how all that's going. See you at 1pm. -- Luke Burbank 7 Comments | Share this | Permalink1
