Listen to Dave Ross Commentary: You can learn a lot watching the Super Bowl

Bright headlights can vaporize vampires. Coke remains liquid even at the North Pole, touchdowns count even if you fall involuntarily into the end zone butt first... And, Clint Eastwood is on board with the auto bailout:

Fox Commentator Karl Rove said that Chrysler ad wasn't just an ad, it was an ad with an AD-jenda:

"I was frankly offended by it. I am a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, but it is a sign of what happens when you have Chicago-style politics and the president of the United States using our tax dollars to buy corporate advertising."

He saw a bailed out car company paying back its White House sugar-daddy:

"This country can't be knocked out with one punch. We get right back up again and when we do, the world is going to hear the roar of our engines," said Eastwood in the ad.

But you know what I heard when I heard that ad? I heard echoes of Karl's old boss:

"The people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon," said George W. Bush.

That's what I heard... that just as we picked ourselves up then, we can pick ourselves up now. And if it involves a little government help, isn't that why we HAVE a government?

Eastwood himself said "it was meant to be a message just about job growth and the spirit of America. I think all politicians will agree with it."

So Karl can have his opinion, but as a certain San Francisco cop once said:

"Opinions are like @#**__, everybody has one."

What MOST of America heard was a patriotic commerical...

What MOST of America heard was a patriotic commercial calling us all to work together to 'win'. to beat this economic downturn and to get America back on it's feet. I think the only folks who heard anything else were those that automatically hate anything that could lift Americans up and get them to work together. It's clear that Karl Rove and his followers are the latter.

I don't think they hate anything that will lift Americans back up per se, rather they hate anything from the Obama Administration that will lift Americans back up. Because I promise you this: If a Republican had bailed out the auto industry, with the exception of Ron Paul, we would not have heard a peep from the right. Well, except for calling the Democrats who would have griped "un-patriotic" and un-American".

Remember, it is the stated goal of the Republican Party to make Obama a one term president. And I have no doubt that they will say or do whatever is necessary to make that happen, even if that means tanking the economy.

    Chicago-style?
    February 7, 2012 9:12 am
That's the dark crust kind, right? Hear that dog whistle Righties? Last time I checked, Chicago was still part of the US and not in the hands of the terrorists, although it seems that Rove (scum) thinks differently.

Now just remember, boys and girls -- anything that would be considered 'positive' for the country is de facto BAD for the Republicans (they hate America). Anything that might be positive would reflect well on our Socialist, Fascist, Kenyan, Secret-Muslim, CHICAGO-STYLE President and WE CAN'T HAVE THAT! They can't win running the likes of Romney, Gingrich, Bachmann and Santorum so they resort to this kind of typical Right-Wing garbage.

I'd like to see that little dirt-bag, Rove, go up to Eastwood and tell him to his face that he's one of the 'Hollywood Elites'. That would make my day.

I think your statement is what divides American's ideology.....liberals tend to fell that is what government is for.......conservatives believe government is to safely keep the republic's constitution and amendments.....and yes I know you will pick out that one little part about the well being of it's people....but that is one little part constituting about 80% of the nations budget...we were all created equal but not created to be fair in all ways.....we need to stop theorizing that all we do………. needs the 1% whom disapprove to be happy, content, non obstructive……i.e.: if the health care bill was such a need, we have a process called amending the constitution to include it…..not back room politics

No one would have given the commercial much thought. But the GOP seems to thrive on separating public opinion instead of bringing the country together. The GOP NEVER allows a good deed to go unpunished.Sorry Carl but taking on Dirty Harry is a Big Big mistake. You Rightys made a mistake on the Komen,Planned Parenthood funding and follow it with this? Unbelievable!

    Conservatives are so conservative
    February 7, 2012 1:34 pm
That their idol, Reagan, would have no place in today's Conservative movement. He raised taxes 11 times, was pro-choice and negotiated with terrorists.

And if Conservatives are so "Constitutional", why do they want anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage amendments? The reason is radicals are now masquerading as "Conservatives". For the Rove crowd, any good news is terrible news. Screw the country. Corporations are people, my friend.

We are in the middle of a hardball political fight. Conservatives (radicals) need to be defeated in the most decisive manner possible. Period.

Clint Eastwood = terrible, therefore Karl Rove = terrible
    February 7, 2012 12:33 pm
My only issue with all this is that Karl rove is a "huge fan" of Clint Eastwood. Has even seen any of his movies (save Dirty Harry)? They're freaking terrible. Both as an actor, director, and actor/director he takes the cake when it comes to dismal performance. His voice, his stoney face, his lack of emotion...all of this type-casts him for the Dirty Harry role....only problem is he plays this role in every one of his movies - which proves to be an inappropriate style 9.5 out of 10 times. Politics aside, if Karl Rove is a "huge fan" of Clint Eastwood....then I am not a "huge fan" of Karl Rove.

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly? His spaghetti westerns rock! Look at the crap action stars we have today. Either a 'roided out d-bag, or a whiny metrosexual.

REPUBS OR DEMS THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE
    February 7, 2012 2:55 pm

This drives me nuts over and over and over again.. People talk about the repubs are this, the libs are that, but they are ALL politicians. If Obama was Republican then it would have been a democrat talking head that made the EXACT same comments.

Dems take money from the middle class and give it to their wealthy backers. Repubs take money from the middle class and give it to their wealthy backers. They all use garbage like this to keep us polarized and fighting about dems vs. libs and not doing ANYTHING different.

And the sad part is, it is going to keep working as long as people on BOTH sides use sound bites to keep their bases voting party lines instead of voting based on actions, laws, use of power, etc.

People need to GIVE UP their party line loyalties.

Finnally someone with some sense. My thoughts exactly. Does anyone remember the one-liners and stories made by CNN against Bush? it was a lot more brutal than Fox against Obama. Really no difference in either side. I've stopped being mad at the politians just doing what they need to do to get re-elected and instead get mad at the idots that keep voting only by party lines. politics => poli-ticks => many bloodsuckers

About a bailout that cost American Taxpayers $48bn dollars - No GM isn't paying back loan - in exchange for the $45bn bailout - the administration gave them a $48bn sale tax break.

Not sure what's good about that. An EV that travels 25 miles after 12 hours of charging and costs over $40K.. ok.. bail out wasn't good... the products suck... stockholders got shafted....

Guess it's really which side of reality your viewing...

You do understand that the Volt is a hybrid that also has a gas engine that kicks in when the battery hit a low power level it then charges the battery while the vehicle continues to operates, the combined gas/battery gas mileage is very good,I do agree that the vehicle is over priced (actually around $33K). GM has other popular vehicles to offer after all they are the NUMBER 1 maker of vehicles in the Entire World. That is REALITY
