John Curley: What do four moms do at a strip club?
![]() What do four private school moms do at a strip club with 97.3 KIRO FM host John Curley? |
John Curley recently found himself in an unusual situation carting four private school moms to a strip club in an Escalade. He tells his 97.3 KIRO FM listeners the outing began innocently enough.
"Saturday night I had a gig. I did an auction for Center for Wooden Boats [...] It was really fun. So afterwards I'm always kind of hyped up, had too much coffee and I ran into a couple of people that I knew," said Curley. "They said, 'We want to go get a drink.'"
Curley said he knew two of the women pretty well so he agreed to be the designated driver and got behind the wheel of one of the women's Cadillac Escalade.
"Guess where they want to go?" said Curley. "Dreamgirls" - a "Gentleman's Club" near Safeco Field that features live dancers.
Curley explained the women were unlikely candidates to visit a gentleman's club.
"Let me paint the picture, they're all over 45, they all have at least three kids and they all go to a private school."
And as the outing was meant to be for a drink, and adult entertainment venues in Washington don't allow alcohol, Curley tried to dissuade them, but they were determined.
"They all agree that they want to go," said Curley. But he did warn them, "I can tell you, you're not going to like it. And I will tell you one other thing, whatever you touch, after you touch it, don't touch your face."
With that warning, Curley drove the women to the club, and at first glance, they weren't thrilled.
"We're in there," said Curley. "They said, 'This is pathetic.'"

But some of the women wanted to dig a little deeper.
"One girl said, 'Well I want to see what a lap dance is like,'" said Curley. "I want to see one up close. I want to see somebody get one."
The women then proceeded to look for a man they could buy a lap dance for.
"They pick out some guy, the one girl gets up, goes over and goes, 'Excuse me, do you want me to pay for a lap dance for you?'"
The man agreed.
"The mom pays the $40 and the guy goes up to this little seated area and all the women go and watch."
One of the women in the party also did a follow up with the dancer.
"She went over and talked to the woman that did the lap dance. She just said 'Thanks a lot for doing that. Do you mind if I give you a hug?' Gave her a hug, and then touched her skin and said, 'Oh your skin is so soft.' And then the two of them just conversed about her job and stuff like that."
After the lap dance, Curley said the women had more questions.
"They come back like they are kids on a field trip and they're not like, 'Hey can you explain the thorax of the cricket to me?' No, they're like, 'Now what happens?'" said Curley. "I said, 'Well that's it.'"
The women then all responded saying, "This is the stupidest thing in the world," said Curley.
"It was interesting to have a woman come into that environment which is purely male and to quickly within about 10 minutes assess that it is the stupidest thing a guy could put themselves through. Because they thought some crazy hanky-panky stuff goes on in the next room. But no, none of that happens."
Curley said the women determined the environment seemed "very unnatural and unhealthy."
"With that they got up and we left," said Curley. "But they had gone deep into the inner recesses of the male world, seen it for whatever it was, and decided they were going to back out. They'd had enough. And most importantly, none of them touched their face afterwards."
